A Spokesman: Hyrum Smith as the Spokesman mentioned in 2 Nephi 3

In my previous post on Hyrum, where I noted down my current belief that he is also both Merry (from Tolkien's writings) as well as Nephi (son of Lehi), among other identities not yet named, I indicated that I thought that he would assist the seer who would have the Sawtooth Stone (just calling it that right now as I don't have any other name for it).

To be more explicit or direct on this point, I believe that Hyrum will be the spokesman that is referenced in the same prophecy by Joseph (of 'Egypt') that Lehi recounts in 2 Nephi 3.

The words given to Hyrum in D&C 11 can be read in a much different light if this is so, both in terms of what is being promised to Hyrum, and what 'work' is being referenced.

The 'word' that Hyum is to seek and obtain is not just limited to the Book of Mormon, which was meant to be the beginning, and not the end, of a series of translated and revealed books and words that were to come to Men (in this 'Generation').  We have not obtained all of them - Joseph and Hyrum both being killed before that could happen, and in all honesty, the work they were attempting to do having gone off the rails sufficiently that it wasn't going to be possible to achieve in their lifetimes even if they hadn't been cut short.

So, the work, and word, waits for another day to be completed.

But, once all the words that God has deemed to reveal (including the Book of the Lamb, Brass Plates, Sawtooth Stone, Greater Words of Jesus at Bountiful, etc.) have been obtained, they will need to be translated.  The work that began with the Book of Mormon then continues again with these next translations.  And it will be the same beings who were involved before (e.g., Joseph, Hyrum, etc.) who will be involved again, joined now by other beings not present as Men in the first phase (e.g., the seer).  These beings were given roles in God's work that no one could take from them - even in death.

The translations will then be complete, and people will need to know about what these words are, and given an opportunity to believe them.  This is where Hyrum as spokesman comes into play, perhaps.  A promise and a gift given to him that will finally be realized.
